Due to lack of sponsorship, WMVR/ Hits 105.5 are regretfully announcing the cancellation of high school sports broadcasts on our airwaves for the 2011-2012 season. Without sponsorship dollars it is simply not feasible for Hits 105.5 to devote the time and resources needed to put on such broadcasts. If at any point during the sports season sponsors are obtained, WMVR/Hits 105.5 would be able to resume High School Sports broadcasts. We will however remain devoted to serving the Upper Miami Valley through our many other community outreach endeavors. This will include our ongoing work with the Shelby Count y Relay for Life, Salvation Army, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Shelby County Humane Society, CASA/GAL and the many other local organizations we have had the pleasure of serving year after year.
The cancellation of high school sports broadcasts was not a decision that was reached lightly or quickly. We have been diligent in our attempts to keep local sports on our airwaves. Unfortunately we have not been able to secure the amount of advertising needed for this to be a reality. In the decision making process WMVR/Hits 105.5 wanted to make sure that local schools and students realized that we do care and truly want to be a part of their activities. With that being said, WMVR would like to help schools with their fundraising efforts. Any organization hosting a school fundraiser is invite to contact WMVR and we will be more than happy to announce your event on air and also post on Hits 1055.com community event page. This is a small gesture to help the community understand this decision was not easy to make and we wanted to make sure we were able to still help our local schools and students in some way.
Please accept our sincerest apologies and know that we care about you our listeners and our community and will always do everything in our power to bring you the very best broadcast available.
