Prayer on the Square

In conjunction with the 2015 National Day of Prayer, local organizers are inviting you to Prayer on the Square, May 8th and 9th.  Friday’s one-hour program begins at Noon and includes US Congressman Jim Jordan and Agape' Distribution / Combined Community Food Pantry Director, Rev. John Geissler.  Saturday’s two-hour program begins at 11 a.m. and will feature inspirational messages from a variety of guest speakers, music, Prophetic art, fellowship and prayer. Prayer on the Square will be held on the east side of the Shelby County court house and is a non-denominational event. 




Emerson Elementary Plant Sale

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and Emerson Elementary will be holding a plant sale fundraiser just in time for you to get your mom a gift! The sale will take place Saturday May 9th at the school located at 901 Campbell Road, Sidney. A wide variety of flowering plants in containers of all sizes as well as vegetables and other plants will be for sale.  Emerson students will be selling presale tickets, which will allow customers the opportunity to shop early from 9 am to 10 am. At 10 am, the sale will open up to the public for purchase via cash, check or tickets. Tickets can also be purchased at the school Wednesday May 6th and Frida May 8th from 2:30-4 pm. This fundraising event benefits the students of Emerson Elementary. More information can be found at




SCARF's Cans for Canines & Adoption Event

At the Shelby County Animal Shelter in Sidney from 9 am – 11 am.  Drop off your aluminum can donations to help vet the pets at the Shelter.  Bring the kids to meet SCARFIE and enjoy a free doughnut.  Plus check out all of the adoptable pets at the Shelter.  For more info visit




Sidney-Shelby County Health Department & Sidney Police Department to host Bike Safety Event

From 9 am – Noon in the parking lot of the Sidney-Shelby County Health Department located at 202 West Poplar Street in Sidney.  Activities will include a new bike helmet to each biker who registers their bike with the Sidney Police Department plus a guided course for education & safety.  For more info call 498.7249 or online at

Jillian's Ride For A Cure

Starting at Rolling Chassis Pizza, 413 North Main Street in Piqua with the final stop at Tribe MC Clubhouse, 3924 State Route 47 in Fort Loramie.  Registration starts at 11 am.  Kickstands up at Noon.  Registration is $10 plus $5 for passenger.  They will feature a 50/50, raffles & music by Dead City Radio.

Lost Creek Chrome Divas 5th Annual Run For Courage

At Mountain Top VFW in Pleasant Hill.  Registration is from 10 am – 12:30 pm.  Roll out at 12:30 pm with last bike in at 4:30 pm.  Cost is $15 for single & $20 with rider.  Food will be served from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm.  Auction, raffle & 50/50 at 7 pm with music from live bands to follow.
